1935 - 2022

The Partners and Staff at Scott Petrie LLP are deeply saddened by the passing of Kim Little on November 5, 2022. Kim continued to practice law actively until September of 2022, concluding a remarkable career spanning sixty-two years.

Kim received his undergraduate degree in 1956 from the University of Western Ontario. He attended Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Bar in 1960. He joined the firm of Shepherd McKenzie where he continued as that firm grew. In 1991 the predecessor to the firm of Little, Inglis, Price & Ewer LLP was founded. Upon the winding up of that firm in November 2019, Kim and Grant Inglis joined Scott Petrie LLP.

Kim’s practice concentrated on the law of real property with a secondary interest in wills and estates. His specific areas of practice included residential purchases, sales, and mortgages; land development, purchases, and sales; registration of subdivisions; and registration of condominiums. He was an established leader in the field of real estate law and was a mentor and a resource for generations of London lawyers. He contributed to the profession, and to the practice and development of real estate law, in numerous roles with the Middlesex Law Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Law Society of Ontario. He taught the real property section of the Bar Admission Course and was a frequent presenter at seminars. Kim was a Law Society representative on the Joint Committee on Electronic Registration in Ontario and a member of the OBA’s Working Group on Lawyers and Real Estate. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1972. In 2012 he was awarded the Ontario Bar Association’s Award for Excellence in Real Estate.

Kim was equally active outside of work. Notably he served as President of the London Squash Racquets Club; Chairman of Lakefield College School and the Lakefield College School Foundation; and as Churchwarden at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church.
