Barry graduated from the University of Western Ontario Law School in 1971 and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1973. Barry has practiced law in London since and founded the current firm in 1994.
His practice has always been heavily involved with real estate and real estate development work. His practice continues to involve real estate and real estate development work, with a particular focus on acting on the development of new condominium projects (for both developers and municipalities) and acting on behalf of condominium corporations, their boards and their managers. He lectured on real estate and condominium matters in the Ontario Bar Admission Course from 1985 until 2005. He is a professional member of the Canadian Condominium Institute (“CCI”) and has served on both the London Chapter Board and the National Board of CCI. He has also been recognized as a Fellow of the Institute. The firm is, through Barry, a member of the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (“ACMO”).
On behalf of the CCI, Barry was responsible for organizing the program presented at the Institute’s National Symposium on condominium insurance matters in May, 2005. In 2007, Barry moderated symposiums held by CCI in Saskatoon and Toronto dealing with human rights issues as they impact condominiums. He has spoken and written on condominium matters for the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association, the Middlesex Law Association, CCI and ACMO.
In the past, Barry has also served as a Director of the London Chamber of Commerce (from 1984 to 1990), as a representative of the City of London on the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (from 1983 to 1989) and as a Director of the London Home Builders Association (from 1980 to 1990).
Away from the office, Barry’s favourite pastimes are golfing, canoeing, hiking and biking, all of which are now being supplanted by spending time with grandchildren. Barry and his wife Margie have three daughters and five grandsons.
